These awesome cabins offer a way for you to enjoy the beauty of the park without having to rough-it. There are 6 cabins in total, located privately on the other-side of the park, away from the tent and RV campground so you truly feel like you have the park to yourself. Bring your bike for easy access to the rest of the park and beaches. Although you can walk, its faster and more convenient to ride your bike or drive in the Florida heat.
Which is Better Bahia Honda or John Pennecamp?
Both state parks offer a lot for guests. If you are more focused on diving then John Pennecamp in Key Largo is a better choice. But if you’re looking for an overall Florida Keys beach vacation then Bahia Honda is perfect for you. It offers snorkeling, water sports, beautiful beaches, comfortable camping, and a well-rounded experience for everyone.
Does Bahia Honda Have a Beach?
Yes, in fact there are THREE gorgeous beaches to choose from. Two on the Atlantic Ocean side and one on the Gulf. You can even enjoy stunning views of the Old Bahia Honda Bridge while sunbathing or swimming. All three beaches are easily accessible from the cabins so you can visit all three on one day and choose what you like best.
How Much are Cabin Rentals at Bahia Honda State Park?
Each cabin runs about $120 per night, has two bedrooms and one bathroom, and a full kitchen with essential utensils. There’s also a pull out couch in the living room for additional guests, and all linens and towels are included – just like a hotel! The air conditioning is always cold and inviting on a hot Keys day. These adorable cabins truly have everything you need to enjoy a few nights in this stunning park.
In addition to all the perks inside, each cabin has outside amenities you’ll love. Enjoy a large deck with picnic table and grill overlooking the bay. You’ll even see fish and sea turtles swim by you daily! And the star gazing at night is truly breathtaking.
Being a picky traveler myself, I personally will only stay in clean and comfortable accommodations, and these cabins are spotless and very inviting. However, they ARE hard to get so here’s what you need to do in order to book one for your next Keys getaway.
How Do I Reserve a Florida Keys Cabin at Bahia Honda State Park?
It’s important to note that the cabin reservations become available 11 months in advance of your desired reservation date, and your best chance to reserve one (since they’re so popular) is to check this far in advance. So let’s say you want to go in July 1, 2023, you’ll follow these steps on August 1, 2022. We understand thats quite far in advance, but a little planning and patience can get you a great (and cheap) vacation.
- Create an account on the reservation site or call the Florida State Parks reservation line at 1-800-326-3521 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET)
- Starting 11 months in advance of your desired vacation, check the site to see the earliest dates that are currently available
- Book in advance if dates are available – and enjoy!
- If nothing you desire is currently available, continue to check back for cancellations which DO happen often!
